  • Page 16: You can find an overview of the programmes that can be selected here. Different programmes are available depending on the appliance configuration. The running time may vary depending on the programme selected. The consumption values can be found in the quick reference guide. Programme: Intensive is for washing pots and pans and cleaning non-fragile tableware and cutlery. Sensor-controlled programmes optimize cleaning based on the soiling of the rinsing water. The Eco programme is the most economical option for cleaning mixed tableware and cutlery. The level of soiling affects the choice of programme and its effectiveness. Consumption values relate to normal conditions and a water hardness of 16 - 20 °E. Different influencing factors may result in deviations from the stated consumption values.
  • Page 17: Programmes Programme sequence Additional functions Tableware Reduced noise Pre-Rinse Cleaning 50 °C Final rinse 65 °C Dry Machine Care 70 °C Note: The relatively long running time in the Eco 50 ° programme is due to longer soaking and drying times.
  • Page 18: Additional functions Press the right programme button. Switch on with mixed loads containing tableware with different soiling levels. The selected programme and the additional function will flash. The spray pressure in the bottom basket is increased and the maximum programme temperature held longer. To reset the programme, either use the Home Connect app or reset your appliance back to the factory settings. For a better drying result, the final rinse temperature is increased and the drying phase extended. You can find an overview of the additional functions that can be selected here. The run time is shortened by 15% to 75% depending on the rinse programme. Energy and water consumption are increased. You can find an overview of the possible features of your appliance and how to use them here.
  • Page 19: Features Raise or lower the basket evenly to the right level. Arrange cups, glasses, and small items of tableware in the top basket. Check that the basket is level on both sides. Release the levers. The basket clicks into position. Slide the basket back in. You can adjust the height of the top basket to make room for larger items of tableware. To wash large items of tableware in the baskets, adjust the shelf position of the top basket. Arrange pans and plates in the bottom basket. Pull out the top basket. Large plates up to a diameter of 31 cm can be arranged in the bottom basket as shown.
  • Page 20: Features Use the cutlery shelf and space underneath for small cups and glasses or for large items of cutlery, e.g. cooking spoons or serving cutlery. Arrange cutlery in the cutlery basket, always without sorting it and with the sharp points downwards. If you do not need the cutlery shelf, you can fold it up. Use the folding prongs to position tableware securely, e.g. plates. You can fold the prongs down to position pans, bowls and glasses better. If you do not need the prongs, fold them down.
  • Page 21: Features Push the lever forwards and fold the baking sheet spray head down the prongs. Use the baking sheet spray head to clean large items of tableware, e.g. trays, grilles, and plates. To use the prongs again, fold them back up. The prongs audibly click into position. Arrange max. 2 baking sheets and 2 grilles as shown to ensure that the spray jet can reach all parts. Check that the appliance is always operated with the top basket or the baking sheet spray head. Use the shelf for knives and long items of cutlery. Remove top basket to insert the baking sheet spray head. Insert the baking sheet spray head in the holder and turn to secure. The baking sheet spray head clicks into position.
  • Page 22: Before using for the first time, turn the baking sheet spray head anticlockwise and remove it from the holder. If you no longer require the baking sheet spray head, remove it from the appliance. Set the baskets at the right height. On initial start-up or after a reset to the factory settings, you will need to make settings. We recommend you operate the appliance without tableware before using it for the first time. Connect your appliance to a mobile device to conveniently change all settings via the Home Connect app. To ensure good dishwashing results, you can treat the water with special salt and the water softening system. Water with a hardness above 9 °E must be softened to avoid damage to the appliance. Add special salt and rinse aid to improve performance. Switch on the appliance after making the necessary adjustments.
  • Page 23: Water softening system Overview of water hardness settings You can find an overview of the water hardness values that can be selected here. You can find out how hard your water is from your local water company or by using a water hardness tester. Water hardness °E Set the water hardness determined on your appliance. To save the settings, press for 3 seconds. With a water hardness of 0 - 8 °E you can dispense with special salt for dishwashers and switch off the water softening system. If the special salt refill indicator lights up, add special salt to the dispenser for special salt just before the programme starts. The consumption of special salt depends on the water hardness. Only fill the dispenser of the water softening system with special dishwasher salt.
  • Page 24: Water softening system Fill the dispenser for special salt immediately before the programme starts. Combined detergents with salt replacement substances can generally only be used up to a water hardness of 26 °E without adding special salt. Only use special salt for dishwashers. Do not use salt tablets or table salt. The water softening system is switched off and the salt refill indicator is deactivated. Regeneration of the water softening system takes place before the end of the main rinse cycle in all programmes. Fill the dispenser right up with special salt. If you find the special salt refill indicator irritating, you can switch the indicator off. To avoid damage to the appliance, only switch off the water softening system in specific cases.
  • Page 25: Rinse aid system Add rinse aid up to the max mark. If rinse aid spills out, remove it from the tub. Spilled rinse aid can cause excessive frothing during the wash cycle. For optimum drying results, use rinse aid. Only use rinse aid for domestic dishwashers. If there are streaks or water marks on tableware, change the amount of rinse aid. If the rinse aid refill indicator lights up, top up with rinse aid. A low setting adds less rinse aid during the wash cycle and reduces streaking on tableware. A higher setting adds more rinse aid during the wash cycle, reduces water marks, and improves the drying result.
  • Page 26: Detergent Oxygen-based bleaching agents are generally used to remove coloured marks, e.g. tea or ketchup. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for each detergent. If you find the rinse aid refill indicator irritating, you can switch the rinse aid system off. The function of rinse aid is limited with combined detergents. Tabs are suitable for all cleaning functions and do not need to be measured out. Powder detergent is recommended for shorter programmes. Liquid detergent works faster and is recommended for shorter programmes without PreRinse. Only use detergents that are suitable for dishwashers. For optimum washing and drying results, use separate detergent, adding special salt and rinse aid separately. Modern, powerful detergents mainly use a low-alkaline formulation with enzymes.
  • Page 27: Detergent Separate detergents are products that do not contain components other than detergent. With powder and liquid detergent, the dosage can be individually adjusted to the level of soiling of the tableware. For better washing and drying results, please additionally use special salt and rinse aid. Do not use detergent which could cause damage to the appliance or present a risk to health. Hand washing-up liquid can cause increased frothing and damage the appliance. Combined detergents contain not only detergent but also rinse aid and salt replacement substances. Combined detergents generally only function up to a water hardness of 26 °E. Detergents marked as organic or ecological generally contain lower levels of active agents. Set the rinse aid and the water softening system to the detergent in use. To prevent sticking, only touch detergents in a water-soluble pouch with dry hands.
  • Page 28: Tableware The function of rinse aid is limited with combined detergents. You will generally get better results using rinse aid. Use tablets with a special drying performance. To open the detergent dispenser, press the locking latch. Add the detergent to the dry detergent dispenser. The detergent dispenser will open automatically at the optimum time during the programme. Powder or liquid detergent will spread around the washing tank and dissolve there. If you are using tablets, one is enough. Insert the tablets in a horizontal position. 20 ml – 25 ml detergent is sufficient for normal soiling. If tableware is only lightly soiled, slightly less than the amount of detergent specified is usually sufficient. Only clean tableware that is suitable for dishwashers.
  • Page 29: Tableware Damage to glass and tableware can occur if the water temperature of the programme is too high. Only put glasses and china in the dishwasher if it is marked as dishwasher-safe by the manufacturer. After the programme has ended, take glassware and cutlery out of the appliance without delay. The following tableware is not dishwasher-safe: items made from wood, decorated glassware, antique and hand-crafted tableware, plastic parts not resistant to heat, tableware made from copper or tin, and tableware soiled with ash, wax, lubricating grease, or paint. Using the appliance allows you to save energy and water compared to washing-up by hand. To save energy and water, load the machine with the number of place settings specified. For better washing and drying results, position items with curves or recesses at an angle so water can run off. Use a detergent marked by the manufacturer as gentle on tableware. Highly caustic alkaline or highly acidic cleaning agents are not safe to use in the dishwasher with aluminium parts. Remove large remnants of food from tableware before loading.
  • Page 30: Basic operation To save resources, do not pre-rinse tableware under running water. WARNING: Hot tableware can cause burns to the skin. When the programme has ended, do not empty the appliance until the tableware has cooled down for a while. Put heavily soiled tableware in the bottom basket, e.g. pans. Arrange cutlery with the points and sharp edges facing down to prevent injury. Position containers with the openings facing down so no water can collect in them. To prevent water dripping on the tableware, unload it starting at the bottom and working up. Check the washing tank and accessories for soiling and clean if necessary. The Eco 50° programme is set by default and is especially environmentally friendly. If you do not perform any actions on the appliance for 10 minutes, it will automatically switch off.
  • Page 31: Basic operation Setting a programme Starting the programme To adjust the wash cycle to the soil- ing level of the tableware, select a suitable programme. The programme has ended when the display shows 0h:00m. If you want to add more tableware while the appliance is running, do not use the tablet collecting tray as a handle for the top basket. You can only change a programme when running if you can- cel it. You can set additional functions to complete the washing programme selected. The appliance switches off automatically 1 minute after the end of the programme to save energy. The button lock prevents the appliance from being operated accidentally or incorrectly while running. You can delay the start of the programme by up to 24 hours.
  • Page 32: Basic operation To prevent excess pressure building up in the appliance, close it after a few minutes. Press to save the programme and switch off the appliance. To resume the programme, press again. To end a programme early, cancel it first by pressing for approximately 4 seconds. All displays will light up, and the display will show 0h:01m as the residual water is pumped out. The programme is cancelled and ends after approximately 1 minute. Please note the information on Safe use. To prevent damage from dripping water, turn the water tap off tightly. If you press during the wash cycle, the programme will be interrupted and will continue automatically when the appliance is switched back on.

Only use suitable cleaning products to clean your appliance. Never use detergents containing chlorine. Follow the tips on appliance care to make sure your appliance functions properly at all times. Remove any coarse soiling in the interior with a damp cloth. Wipe the door seals, the front of the dishwasher, and the control panel regularly using a damp cloth and washing-up liquid. Select the programme with the highest temperature. If the appliance is not going to be used for a while, leave the door slightly ajar. Deposits, e.g. from remnants of food and limescale, can cause your appliance to malfunction. Machine Care is a programme which removes various deposits in one washing cycle.
  • Page 38: Cleaning and servicing To ensure optimum cleaning performance, the programme doses the detergents independently of each other during the relevant cleaning phase. Correct placement of the detergents is necessary here. Run Machine Care without tableware if the indicator for Machine Care lights up on the control panel or if advised to do so by the display. The indicator will go out after you have run Machine Care. We recommend performing Machine Care every 2 months. The filter system removes coarse soiling from the dishwashing cycle. Only use machine care products and machine cleaners specially designed for dishwashers. Make sure that there are no aluminium parts in the interior of the appliance. For optimum cleaning performance, ensure the correct placement of cleaners. Soiling in the dishwashing water may block the filters. After each wash check the filters for residue. Remove any coarse soiling in the interior with a damp cloth.

Tableware removed too early or drying process not yet ended. Wait until the programme ends. Plastic tableware is not dry. Cutlery not arranged properly in the cutlery basket or cutlery drawer.
  • Page 45: Troubleshooting Remnants of food on tableware can occur if tableware is placed too close together or the basket is overfilled. Arrange tableware with sufficient space in between to ensure spray jets reach the surfaces. Avoid points of contact to prevent spray arm rotation from being blocked. Clean the spray arms if the nozzles are blocked. Soiled filters can affect performance; clean the filters regularly. Ensure filters are inserted correctly and engaged properly. Select a more intensive washing programme if the current one is too weak. Do not pre-rinse tableware too intensely, as this may lead to sensors selecting a weaker programme. Tall narrow receptacles should not be positioned at too great an angle or in corner areas to ensure adequate rinsing. Set the top baskets on the left and right to the same level for optimal performance.
  • Page 46: Troubleshooting Detergent residue in the appliance may occur due to the use of tabs in a quick or short programme. Select a more intensive programme or use powder detergent. Washing effect and dissolving performance can be reduced after prolonged storage time or if the detergent is very lumpy. Water marks on plastic parts are due to droplet formation on surfaces. Select a more intensive programme, position tableware at an angle, use rinse aid, or set the water softening system higher. Wipeable or water-soluble coatings may be present inside the appliance or on the door. Change your detergent if required and clean the appliance mechanically. White coating may be deposited in the appliance interior if the water softening system is not set correctly. Screw the special salt dispenser tight to avoid stubborn white coatings. The hardness range may be set incorrectly or the water hardness may exceed 62 °E.
  • Page 47: Troubleshooting Stubborn white coatings are present on tableware, inside the appliance or the door. Increase the amount of detergent used. Select a more intensive washing programme. Tea residue or lipstick marks on tableware. Select a programme with a higher washing temperature. Use a suitable detergent and follow the manufacturer's instructions for the amount to be used. Only remove large remnants of food and do not prerinse tableware. The formation of films is due to substances contained in vegetables or on stainless steel tableware. Clean the appliance. Deposits may not always be completely removable but are harmless to health.
  • Page 48: Troubleshooting Coloured deposits (yellow, orange, brown) that are easy to remove are present inside the appliance. The formation of films is due to ingredients of food remnants and tap water (limescale). Check the setting of the water softening system. Add special salt. If you are using combined detergents (tabs), activate the water softening system. Discolouration can come about and plastic parts inside the appliance may become discoloured during the life of the dishwasher. Washing temperature is too low. Select a programme with a higher washing temperature. Only remove large remnants of food and do not prerinse tableware. Set the rinse aid system to a lower setting.
  • Page 49: Troubleshooting Irreversible clouding of glassware may occur if glasses are not dishwasher-proof. Use dishwasher-proof glasses and avoid a lengthy steam phase after the wash cycle ends. Set the softening system to the water hardness and use detergent with a glass protection component. Rust spots on cutlery can be caused by insufficient rust resistance. Use rust-resistant tableware and avoid washing rusting items together. High salt content in washing water can lead to issues; remove any spilled special salt from the tub and ensure the cap of the special salt dispenser is tight. Detergent residue may be present if spray arms are blocked. Check that the spray arms can rotate freely and only add detergent to a dry dispenser. Excessive foam formation can occur if hand washing-up liquid is present in the rinse aid dispenser. Add rinse aid immediately and remove any spills with a cloth. Changing the brand of detergent may help if excessive foaming is caused by the detergent or appliance care product used.
