  • Page 2: Important safety instructions should be read before using the appliance. Repairs must be performed by a qualified technician. Do not tamper with controls. This symbol alerts users to dangers such as personal injury, burns, fire, and electrical shock. Do not touch the heating element during or immediately after use. Load sharp items and knives with handles up to reduce the risk of cut-type injuries. Use the dishwasher only as instructed in the Use and Care Manual. Hydrogen gas may be produced in a hot water system that has not been used for 2 weeks or more. NSF certified residential dishwashers are not intended for licensed food establishments. Keep young children and infants away from the dishwasher when it is operating.
  • Page 3: Your dishwasher cleans by spraying a mixture of hot, clean water, and detergent against the soiled surfaces of your dishes and tableware. Each cycle starts with a pre-drain. The dishwasher fills with water to a level even with the heating element. This water is constantly pumped through the rotating spray arm and sprayed onto the dishes. Soiled water is pumped out and replaced with clean water during a cycle. The number of water fills depends upon the cycle being used. Control panel. Upper rack. Lower rack. Motor.
  • Page 4: Getting Started Check filter. Load dishwasher. Add detergent. Add rinse aid, if needed. Select wash cycle. Select desired options. Cycle Chart Heavy wash for heavily soiled dishes and silverware. Normal wash for regularly soiled dishes and silverware. Light wash for lightly soiled and pre-rinsed dishes and silverware. Energy saver for lightly soiled and pre-rinsed dishes and silverware.
  • Page 5: Dish preparation involves removing large pieces of food before loading dishes into the dishwasher. The Hi-Temp Wash option heats water to approximately 140°F (60°C) to enhance cleaning and drying performance. It is not necessary to rinse dishes before loading, but pre-soaking or scouring may be needed for tough residues. The Hi-Temp Wash option can be used with all cycles except China Crystal and Rinse Only. Foods like mustard and tomato-based products can cause discoloration if left on dishes for too long. To turn off the Hi-Temp Wash option, press the pad a second time. The Air Dry option reduces energy consumption but may also reduce drying performance. The unit defaults to heated dry when any cycle is selected. To ensure items are dishwasher safe, check the manufacturer's care instructions. The Delay Start option allows you to set a delay of 2 to 4 hours before the dishwasher starts.
  • Page 6: Preparing and loading dishes Loading the top rack Place glasses and cups against outside pins at an angle. Small plates and saucers should be placed between the middle two rows of pins. Load plasticware in the top rack to avoid melting. Place bowls between the middle two rows of pins facing down. Place long handled knives and utensils in the top rack. The cup shelf can be folded down for more loading space. Load sharp items with handles up to prevent injury. Load silverware so items are mixed in each section to prevent nesting. Loading the bottom rack Place large plates and platters between the support pins with soiled sides facing inward. Load pots and pans upside down and at an angle to ensure proper washing.
  • Page 7: Filling the detergent dispenser Use only fresh automatic dishwashing detergent. Other detergents will cause oversudsing. The detergent dispenser has one covered and one uncovered cup. Detergent in the uncovered cup falls into the dishwasher when the door is closed. Add detergent just before starting the cycle. Store detergent in a cool, dry location. The amount of detergent to use depends on the water hardness. Using too little detergent can result in poor cleaning and hard water filming or spotting. The use of industrial grade detergent can damage the heating coil and other parts of the dishwasher. If the cover is closed on the main wash cup, open by pressing the cover latch. Try adding more detergent at the beginning of the main wash portion of the cycle. Detergent usage guide varies based on water hardness levels. Heavy wash cycle requires different amounts of detergent based on water hardness. Rinse only cycle requires no detergent.
  • Page 8: Factors affecting performance include rinse aid, water pressure, and water temperature. Rinse aid improves drying and reduces water spots and filming. Water pressure should be between 20 and 120 pounds per square inch. To check water pressure, fill a 2 quart container under a fully opened hot water faucet in less than 14 seconds. The rinse aid dispenser automatically releases a measured amount during the last rinse. Increase rinse aid dispensed by rotating the dial to a higher number if spotting and poor drying occur. Hot water should be at least 120°F for best dishwashing and drying results. Run hot water before starting a cycle to clear cool water from pipes. Selecting the AIR DRY option with rinse aid enhances drying performance. The rinse aid dispenser holds enough for 35 to 140 washes, depending on the setting.
  • Page 9: Care and cleaning Winterizing A dishwasher left in an unheated place should be protected from freezing. Allow heating element to cool before cleaning the interior. To disconnect service, turn off electrical power to the dishwasher at the supply source. Shut off water supply. The inside of the dishwasher is self-cleaning with normal use. Use a dishwasher safe detergent to help with stains or discolorations. Never use products that contain chlorine bleach or citric acid. The dishwasher motor is permanently lubricated at the factory and does not need to be oiled. Check connections to make sure they do not leak.
  • Page 10: Care and cleaning Caution: Freezing temperatures may cause water lines to rupture. Be sure all supply lines to and circulating lines within the dishwasher are protected. Cleaning the spray arm may be necessary to ensure there are no clogs due to hard water chemicals. To remove the spray arm, hold it in place, turn the retaining nut clockwise, and pull up on the spray arm. To clean the spray arm, use warm soapy water and a soft brush for the jets and bearings. To replace the spray arm, set it on the shaft and turn the retaining nut counterclockwise until it locks into place. Cleaning the filter assembly is important for optimum performance, featuring a main filter, cup, and fine filter. All food fragments are removed from the dishwasher as water passes through the filter assembly. To clean the filters, pull up on the edge of the main filter and rinse it under running water. Cleaning with a brush may be necessary to remove any fragments trapped in the filters. Using the dishwasher without a properly installed filter is not recommended as it may reduce cleaning efficiency and damage dishware.
  • Page 11: Connecting and disconnecting the portable dishwasher requires proper procedures. The dishwasher must be connected to a faucet and electrical outlet each time it is used. A special adapter must be installed on the faucet before connecting the dishwasher. Ensure the door is latched before moving the dishwasher. Run water at the faucet until it is hot before connecting. Unplug the power cord and turn off hot water after the cycle has finished. Avoid using an adapter plug or extension cord to prevent electrical hazards. The dishwasher requires a 120 volts, 60 Hz electrical supply and must be grounded. Grounding reduces the risk of electrical shock in case of a malfunction. The power cord has a 3-prong grounding plug that must be used with a compatible receptacle.
  • Page 12: Common dishwashing problems and solutions Chipped dishes and glasses can result from rough handling and improper loading. Dishes not clean—Check pages 4 to 8 for information on correct wash cycle, proper loading, water temperature, water pressure, hard water, amount of detergent, old and ineffective detergent, and dish placement. To maximize wash performance, clean the filter of all large food particles after each wash. Crazing of older china and pottery happens when items are subjected to very hot water. Dishes not drying can be greatly improved by using a rinse aid and hot water. Coffee and tea stains can occur when water contains traces of iron. Spotting occurs when hard water droplets evaporate leaving a deposit. Gray-black stains on dishes are caused by manganese in the water supply. Cloudy films and streaking are usually caused by a combination of hard water and an insufficient amount of detergent. Discoloration of plasticware by some foods can stain plasticware.
  • Page 13: Common dishwashing problems and solutions Before calling for service, review this list. It may save you both time and expense. Do not place silver next to or touching stainless steel utensils in the dishwasher silverware basket. It is normal to hear swishing and pulsating sounds. These sounds mean that water is circulating through the dishwasher. Tarnish on silver plate occurs when worn down to the base metal and turns a bronze color when exposed to hot water and detergent. Vibrating or rattling sounds can mean dishes are touching each other. Be sure the door is firmly closed. It is normal for the dishwasher to pause between cycles. Food soil can create a film or discoloration on stainless steel. To avoid, rinse stainless items promptly. Check for items sticking out of the dishwasher that could prevent the door from closing and sealing properly. A small amount of water in the bottom of the tub is normal. It keeps the water seal lubricated. Detergent may be too old. Discard old detergent and use fresh detergent.
