- Page 2: Important safety instructions Read all instructions before using this appliance. Save these instructions for future reference. Do not wash plastic items unless marked “dishwasher safe” or the equivalent. Items that are not dishwasher safe may melt and create a potential fire hazard. Disconnect electrical power to dishwasher before servicing. Repairs should be done by a qualified technician. Use your dishwasher only as instructed in this Use and Care Manual. Use care unloading the dishware when the sanitize option has been selected. NSF certified residential dishwashers are not intended for licensed food establishments. Dishwasher must be electrically grounded.
- Page 3: Product registration is important for customer satisfaction and product quality. This Use & Care Guide is part of our commitment to customer satisfaction. Read before operating your dishwasher. Record important product information such as purchase date, model number, and serial number. The dishwasher operates quietly compared to most models. It uses energy-efficient motors for washing and draining. Each cycle includes a series of water fills and drains. You may hear the drain motor and splashing water as the cycle begins. Registering your product enhances our ability to serve you. You can register online or by mailing the Product Registration Card.
- Page 4: Your dishwasher cleans by spraying a mixture of hot water and detergent through the spray arms against soiled surfaces. Each cycle begins by filling with water covering the filter area. Water is then pumped through the filter and spray arms. Soil particles go down the drain as the water is pumped out and replaced with clean water. The number of water fills will vary with the cycle being used. Top rack includes the upper spray arm and cup shelf. Middle spray arm is part of the cleaning mechanism. The bottom rack features the lower spray arm. Rinse aid and detergent dispensers are essential for operation. The serial label is located on the right side of the tub.
- Page 5: Getting Started Hi-Temp Wash Load dishwasher and add detergent. When Hi-Temp Wash option is selected, the dishwasher heats water to approximately 140°F (60°C). Add rinse aid if needed. Close door to latch. Hi-Temp Wash option can be used with all cycles except China Crystal and Rinse & Hold. Select desired cycle and options. Run hot water faucet nearest dishwasher until water is hot. To start, press Start/Cancel pad. The dishwasher remembers your last cycle for convenience. Air Dry The unit defaults to heated dry when started with any cycle selected. If you prefer Air Dry, select Air Dry to reduce energy consumption. Wash cycle times are approximate and will vary with options selected. You can cancel a cycle anytime by pressing Start/Cancel pad.
- Page 6: The Smart Soil Sensor checks the soil level on your dishes in the Heavy Wash and Normal Wash cycles. Depending on soil level, the sensor will determine if additional water fills are needed to clean the dishes or if water fills can be deleted. Cycle time and water usage will vary based on the amount of soil on the dishes. Not all cycles are available on all models. The Delay Start option allows you to automatically delay starting your dishwasher from 1-24 hours. To prevent children from accidentally changing the dishwasher cycle, lock the dishwasher controls by pressing and releasing the AIR DRY pad for 8 seconds. An indicator light will illuminate when the controls are locked. To unlock the controls, press the AIR DRY pad until the indicator light goes out. To cancel the Delay Start option and begin the cycle before the delay period is over, press the START/CANCEL pad. Select the desired options for each wash cycle.
- Page 7: Operating instructions The washing light comes on at the beginning of the cycle and remains on until the end of the cycle. PF appears in the window when the dishwasher is first installed or when power has been interrupted. HI-TEMP WASH and AIR DRY indicator lights will also flash. To clear, touch START/CANCEL pad. When the sanitize option is selected, the sanitized light will glow when the sanitize cycle is finished. The clean light will come on at the end of the cycle and remain on for 30 seconds after the door is opened. In the unlikely event the dishwasher malfunctions, the indicator may display error codes Er or CE. The rinse aid indicator appears when the rinse aid is low and needs to be refilled. The wash cycle time could suddenly increase or drop several minutes due to the smart sensor checking the soil level.
- Page 8: Dish preparation involves scraping away large pieces of food, bones, and pits. The continuous filtered wash system will remove remaining food particles. Burned-on foods should be loosened before loading. Empty liquids from glasses and cups. Foods like mustard, mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice, and tomato-based products may cause discoloration if allowed to sit for a long time. It is best to rinse off these food soils unless the dishwasher is to be operated at once. Load racks so that large items do not prevent the detergent dispenser from opening. Check manufacturer's recommendations before washing items in question. The upper rack should be in the raised position for best washing performance. If the dishwasher drains into a food disposer, ensure it is completely empty before starting the dishwasher. The upper rack is designed for flexibility in loading a variety of items including cups, glasses, and small plates. Load glasses in the top rack to avoid damage. Load plastic items in the top rack only to prevent melting. Items should be loaded with open ends facing down for better cleaning and draining. Some models have a fold-down cup shelf for loading two levels of cups and short items.
- Page 9: Preparing and loading dishes Adjustable upper rack (available on select models) The top rack height can be easily adjusted to accommodate loading taller dishes in either rack. Height should be adjusted without dishes in the racks. Upper rack position Lower rack position To adjust the upper rack in either the lower or upper position see illustration below.
- Page 10: Preparing and loading dishes The bowl tines offer the ultimate in flexibility. When closed, load with saucers or small dishes. Open halfway for small casseroles. Open completely for hard-to-fit items such as coffee pots and food processors. The fold-down tines in the lower rack make easy loading for extra large items. The lower rack is best for plates, saucers, bowls, and cookware. Large items should be placed along the edge to avoid blocking the spray arm rotation. For best results, place soiled surfaces facing down or toward the center. Tilt bowls slightly for better drainage. Ensure tall items do not block spray arm rotation.
- Page 11: Preparing and loading dishes Be sure nothing protrudes through the bottom of the basket or rack to block the spray arm. Do not mix silver and stainless to avoid damaging the silver finish. The silverware basket can be separated and placed in several locations in the bottom rack. When covers are up, mix items in each section of the basket with some pointing up and some down to avoid nesting. To add or remove items after the wash cycle starts, unlatch the door and wait a few seconds until wash action stops before opening. Add the item and wait a few seconds to allow cold air to slowly expand inside the dishwasher. Load sharp items (knives, skewers, etc.) pointing down to avoid injury. Use suggested loading patterns to increase washability of your silverware.
- Page 12: Filling the detergent dispenser involves using one covered and one uncovered cup. The uncovered cup releases detergent when the door is closed, while the covered cup opens automatically. The amount of detergent needed depends on water hardness, measured in grains per gallon. Using too little detergent can lead to poor cleaning and spotting, while too much in soft water can cause etching. Use only fresh automatic dishwashing detergent to avoid oversudsing. When using detergent tabs, place one in the main wash cup and close it. Add detergent just before starting the cycle and store it in a cool, dry location to ensure proper dissolution. The use of industrial grade detergent can damage the dishwasher and surrounding property. Only household grade automatic dishwasher detergents should be used. A detergent usage guide is provided based on water hardness levels, indicating the appropriate amount for soft, medium hard, hard, and very hard water. For very hard water, a water softener is recommended to improve performance. Adding more detergent during the main wash cycle may be necessary. If the cover on the main wash cup is closed, it can be opened by pressing the cover latch.
- Page 13: Factors affecting performance include rinse aid, water pressure, and water temperature. Rinse aid improves drying and reduces spots and filming on dishes. Water pressure should be between 20 and 120 psi for optimal performance. Low water pressure may occur when other water sources are in use. The rinse aid dispenser automatically releases a measured amount during the last rinse. Increase rinse aid dispensed by adjusting the dial under the dispenser cap. Hot water entering the dishwasher should be at least 120°F for best results. Check water temperature by running the hot water faucet and using a thermometer. Before starting a cycle, run hot water to clear cool water from the pipes. Selecting the AIR DRY option may result in items not being completely dry at the end of the cycle.
- Page 14: Care and cleaning Warning: Allow heating element to cool before cleaning the interior. Failure to do so can result in burns. Occasionally wipe the outside with a mild nonabrasive detergent and water. Rinse and dry. The tub is made of stainless steel; it will not rust or corrode if scratched or dented. If a drain air gap was installed, check to ensure it is clean for proper drainage. To disconnect service, turn off electrical power and shut off water supply. The cylinder filter collects large items and needs to be cleaned to maximize wash performance. To restore service, reconnect water, drain, and electrical power supply. Hard water may cause lime deposit buildup on the interior. For cleaning instructions, see the Removing Spots and Film section.
- Page 15: Clean the fine filter. Take out the cylinder filter and remove the fine filter from the dishwasher tub bottom. To remove the fine filter, you must first remove the bottom spray arm. Flush the fine filter by holding it under running water and replace.
- Page 16: Solutions to common dishwashing problems Dishes not dry Before calling for service, review this list. It may save you both time and expense. This list includes common experiences that are not the result of defective workmanship or material in your dishwasher. Select heat dry option. Make sure the rinse aid dispenser is filled. Increase the amount of rinse aid. Check the incoming water temperature. Be sure it is at least 120°F (49°C). Check for proper loading—avoid nesting items. Plastic items may need to be towel dried. Cups with a concave bottom will collect water. Dishwasher stained or discolored Freezing temperatures may cause water lines to rupture. Be sure all supply lines to and circulating lines within dishwasher are protected. Tea and coffee can stain cups. Remove the stains by hand washing in a solution of 1/2 cup (120 ml) bleach and one quart (1 L) of warm water. Rinse thoroughly. Iron deposits in water can cause a yellow or brown film. A special filter installed in the water supply line will correct this problem. Aluminum utensils can leave gray/black marks when they rub against other items. Load properly. Certain high acid foods can cause discoloration of stainless steel and plastics if allowed to sit for a long period. Food soils left on dishes Mixing stainless steel and silver utensils in silverware basket can cause pitting of the stainless steel blades. Check rack loading section for proper loading—avoid nesting items. Home water pressure may be too low—should be 20 to 120 pounds per square inch (psi). Glassware/flatware spotted or cloudy Check incoming water temperature. It should be at least 120°F (49°C). Check water hardness. For extremely hard water, it may be necessary to install a water softener. Water temperature may be low. Avoid extremely low or high temperatures. Use fresh detergent. Avoid overloading and improper loading. Check to make sure funnel in top rack is not blocked. Make sure items are not blocking the spray arms, preventing them from rotating. Check to see that proper amount of detergent is being used for cycle selected. Also, check phosphate level.
- Page 17: Water in bottom of tub Water left in bottom of tub after cycle is complete is not normal. If water remains in the bottom of the tub, dishwasher may not be draining properly. Dishwasher leaks Use only fresh detergent designed for automatic dishwashers. Measure detergent carefully. Dishware chipped Load with care and do not overload. Normal sounds you will hear Normal sounds include water fill, water circulation, and motor sounds. Vapor at vent Water vapor escapes from the vent during the drying part of the cycle. This is normal. Dishwasher won’t run Check to see if circuit breaker is tripped or if a fuse is blown. Detergent left in cups Detergent may be old. Discard and use fresh detergent. Cycle takes a long time Is cycle in a water heating delay? Make sure water supply is turned on. Check to see if cycle is set correctly.
- Page 18: Solutions to common dishwashing problems Dishwasher does not drain properly Hard water can cause lime deposit buildup on the interior of the dishwasher. Dishes and glasses may also get spots and film for a number of reasons. To remove buildup, spots and film, clean using the following instructions: If the unit is hooked up to a food waste disposer, make sure the disposer is empty. Check to see if the knockout plug has been removed from inside the food waste disposer inlet. Check to see if the drain hose is kinked. Load clean dishes and glasses in normal manner. Do not load any metal utensils or silverware. Dishwasher won’t fill Is water supply turned on? Allow dishwasher to run until it starts the second water fill (approximately 10 minutes). The sensing light will be off. Dishwasher has an odor Soiled dishes left in dishwasher too long can create an odor. Use Rinse & Hold cycle. There will be a “new” smell when first installed. This is normal. Check to see if unit is draining properly.
