  • Page 2: Welcome to our family. The filters will need to be cleaned to maximize wash performance during the life of your dishwasher. This manual is your resource for the use and care of your product. If something doesn’t seem right, the troubleshooting section will help you with common issues. Very important information - read before operating your dishwasher. Your Direct Feed Wash System dishwasher uses energy efficient motors for the wash and drain portions of the cycle you select. Be sure to register your product. The dishwasher is programmed to remember your last cycle so you do not have to reset each time. Several factors are important to washing dishware, which is why energy efficient units run long cycles. Not all cycles and options are available on all models.
  • Page 3: IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION Repairs should be done by a qualified technician. Do not tamper with controls. Please read all instructions before using. Do not touch the heating element during or immediately after this dishwasher. Use care unloading the dishwasher when the Sanitize option has been selected. Use your dishwasher only as instructed in this User Manual. This Manual does not cover every possible condition and situation that may occur. Water vapor in the tub may be hot when Sanitize or other high temperature programs have been selected. Hydrogen gas is explosive. If hot water system has not been used for such a period, turn on for several minutes to release any accumulated hydrogen gas. Do not operate dishwasher unless all enclosure panels are in their proper place.
  • Page 4: Important safety information includes child safety warnings and general safety instructions. Children should never use packaging materials to play, as they can cause suffocation. To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or injury, follow basic precautions when using the dishwasher. Do not store or use flammable liquids near the appliance. Read all instructions before using the appliance. The safety alert symbol indicates potential personal injury hazards. Remove all staples from the carton to prevent cuts and damage to finishes. DANGER indicates a situation that could result in death or serious injury if not avoided. WARNING indicates a potentially hazardous situation that could result in death or serious injury. CAUTION indicates a situation that may result in minor or moderate injury if not avoided. IMPORTANT information pertains to installation, operation, or maintenance that is not hazard-related.
  • Page 5: Your dishwasher cleans by spraying a mixture of hot water and detergent through the spray arms against soiled surfaces. The dishwasher drains for a few seconds to remove soils dropped while loading, then fills with water covering the filter area. Water is then pumped through the spray arms. Soil particles go through and across the filter and down the drain as the water is pumped out. This series of steps are repeated as needed. The number of water fills varies with the cycle being used. Features may vary according to model. Accessories are available for your appliance and may be purchased from authorized sellers.
  • Page 6: Controls and settings are essential for operating the dishwasher effectively. Your dishwasher uses DishSense technology to adjust the cycle based on food residue on dishes. The recommended cycle for typical use is the Normal Wash cycle with default options for optimal performance. Before starting the dishwasher, ensure that the water is connected and turned on to avoid damage. Cycle times are approximate and will vary based on selected options. Hot water is necessary to activate detergent and melt fatty food soils. The Normal cycle is designed to wash and dry a full load of normally soiled dishes. The sanitize option meets NSF International standards for sanitizing dishes and glassware. The Heavy cycle is intended for pots and pans with dried-on or baked-on soil. The ECO cycle is for energy-saving performance and does not allow for certain drying options.
  • Page 7: Controls and settings include various drying options. Child lock controls prevent children from starting the dishwasher or changing the wash cycle. The programmed cycles default to the Eco Air option, except for the Quick cycle. NormalDry option activates the heater during the drying process. MaxDry option extends heater operation time for improved drying performance and can be used with all cycles except ECO. The automatic door opener enhances drying performance by opening the door at the end of the washing cycle. Eco Air option also opens the door automatically at the end of the cycle for better drying performance and can be used with all cycles except Quick. Air Dry means the heater is de-activated during the drying phase, utilizing residual air heat. Refer to the installation instructions for more information on the automatic door opener.
  • Page 8: Operating instructions Delay option allows you to automatically delay starting your dishwasher 1-12 hours. To start the Delay option, press Delay until the desired delay time shows in the Status window. Press the START/Cancel button to start the delay option. If the delay option is interrupted, the START/Cancel button will have to be pressed again to return to delay option. The Status Window indicates the number of delay start hours, the number of minutes left in a cycle, and the CLOSE message. When full cycle is complete, COMPLETE is illuminated. When Sanitize is selected and achieved, SANITIZED is illuminated. When Child Lock is activated, it is illuminated. When rinse aid is insufficient, the indicator is illuminated. You can cancel a cycle anytime during the cycle by pressing and holding the START/Cancel pad for 3 seconds.
  • Page 9: Operating instructions To cancel a cycle and delay cycle The STATUS window indicates the following activity: Both a running cycle and a delay cycle can be canceled at any time. Open the dishwasher door and press the START/Cancel button until the cycle and option LEDs turn off. If you open the door while a cycle is running or delay is counting down, the dishwasher will stop running. The console lights provide information about the cycle selection and current status. At the completion of the cycle, the clean light will come on. The Sanitized light will also come on if that option was selected and sanitization was achieved during the wash cycle. The WHITE LIGHT illuminates when the wash is complete. The BLUE LIGHT illuminates to indicate that the wash cycle is operating.
  • Page 10: Operating instructions provide details on the DishSense technology, which checks the soil level on dishes during cycles. Automatic cycle adjustments ensure dishware is cleaned effectively, with shorter cycles for less food. Cycle time varies based on selected options and incoming water temperature. Not all cycles are available on all models. The cycle and option chart outlines various cycles, water usage, and drying options. Recommended cycles include Eco for lightly to heavily soiled loads and Heavy for pots, pans, and casseroles. Quick cycle is recommended for lightly soiled loads only. The cycle uses the Soil Sensing feature to determine the best wash performance.
  • Page 11: Care and cleaning Long-handled knives and utensils can be placed in the top rack. Scrape away large pieces of food, bones, pits, toothpicks, etc. The continuously filtered wash fluid will remove remaining food particles. Burned-on foods should be loosened before loading. Empty liquids from glasses and cups. Foods such as mustard, mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice, and tomato-based products may cause discoloration of stainless steel and plastics if allowed to sit for a long period of time. It is best to pre-rinse to rinse off food soils unless the dishwasher is to be operated at once. Load racks so that large items do not prevent the detergent dispenser from opening. Check manufacturer’s recommendations before washing items in question. Load glasses in the top rack only; damage may occur if placed in the bottom rack.
  • Page 12: Care and cleaning Cup shelves are used to load extra cups. Fold them down if not needed. Pull out the upper basket. Lift the shelves up. Remove the upper basket. Flip the shelves to the right position. Re-attach the upper basket to upper or lower rollers. Load cups on the shelves. Remove all items before adjusting the rack.
  • Page 13: Care and cleaning Fold-down tines make easy loading for large and hard-to-fit items. The tines may be left up for normal use or folded down for more flexible loading. The lower rack is best for plates, saucers, bowls, and cookware. Large items should be placed along the edge to avoid blocking the spray arm rotation. For best results, place bowls and saucepans with soiled surfaces facing down and toward the center. Tilt slightly for better drainage. Spin the middle spray arm to ensure tall items do not block rotation. Ensure pan handles do not protrude through the bottom of the rack and block the lower spray arm rotation. Standard loading patterns are available for 14 and 10 place settings.
  • Page 14: Loading the silverware basket involves understanding its three separate sections for optimum flexibility. Sharp items should be loaded pointing down to prevent injury. The silverware basket can be removed for loading on a countertop or table. Small items can be placed in a covered section of the basket to hold them in place. Using suggested loading patterns increases the washability of the silverware. Loaded items should not interfere with the rotation of the spray arm. To avoid damaging the silver finish, do not mix silver and stainless items. When covers are up, mix items in each section to prevent nesting. Water spray cannot reach nested items, so proper loading is essential. Features and appearance of the silverware basket may vary by model.
  • Page 15: Care and cleaning Adding a dish To add or remove items after the wash cycle starts, unlatch the door and wait a few seconds until wash action stops before opening. Press the START/Cancel button then immediately close the door firmly to resume. Warning: Open the door very slowly and carefully if the dishwasher is operating to avoid the risk of hot water squirting out. Filing the detergent dispenser The detergent dispenser has two detergent cups; the smaller one is for the pre-wash and the larger is for the main wash. Use only fresh automatic dishwashing detergent, as other detergents may cause oversudsing. The amount of detergent to use depends on the soil level of your load, the type of detergent used, and the hardness of your water. Water hardness varies depending on your water source; for best results, your dishwasher is designed to operate with water that has a hardness of no more than 7 grains per gallon. The use of industrial grade detergent can damage the heating coil and other parts of the dishwasher. Use only household grade automatic dishwasher detergents.
  • Page 16: Care and cleaning Rinse aid greatly improves drying and reduces water spots. Do not fill the reservoir above the full level indicator. A dispenser automatically releases a measured amount of rinse aid during the last rinse. If spotting and poor drying are problems, increase the amount of rinse aid dispensed. The hot water line to the dishwasher must provide water pressure between 20 and 80 psi. Low water pressure may occur when laundry or showers are in operation. Hot water is needed for best dishwashing and drying results. Water entering the dishwasher should be at least 120°F to 150°F for satisfactory results. To check water temperature entering the dishwasher, turn on the hot water faucet nearest to it. Before starting a cycle, run hot water to clear cool water from the pipe.
  • Page 17: Care and cleaning Cleaning the filters Check and clean the filters regularly for best performance. Remove the lower dishwasher rack. Rotate the Cylinder filter counterclockwise a quarter turn and lift up to remove. Clean outer door with warm soapy water and a dishcloth or sponge. The inside of the dishwasher and filter are self-cleaning with normal use. Empty the Cylinder filter and rinse it under running water. Inspect both the Fine filter and the Micro filter for debris, and then clean them by holding the filters under slow running water. A stiff, plastic bristle brush may be needed to remove some debris. Hard water may cause lime deposit buildup on the interior of the dishwasher.
  • Page 18: Care and cleaning Care of drain air gap Winterizing A dishwasher left in an unheated place should be protected from freezing. If a drain air gap was installed for your built-in dishwasher, check to make sure it is clean so the dishwasher will drain properly. This is not part of your dishwasher and is not covered by warranty. Turn off electrical power to the dishwasher at the supply source by removing fuses or tripping circuit breaker. Freezing temperatures may cause water lines to rupture. Be sure all supply lines to and circulating lines within dishwasher are protected. Failure to do so could result in property damage.
  • Page 19: troubleshooting Before calling for service, review this list. It may save you both time and expense. This list includes common experiences that are not the result of defective workmanship or material in your dishwasher. Any dishware with concave surfaces that can collect water should be placed in the rack facing or angled down so that water is able to drain even from the lowest point. Choose another cycle for longer washing time. Check rack loading section for proper loading-avoid nesting items. Check water hardness. For extremely hard water, it may be necessary to install a water softener. Home water pressure may be too low-should be 20 to 80 pounds per square inch (psi). Water temperature may be low. Avoid extremely low or high temperatures. Use fresh detergent. Old detergent is ineffective. Make sure rinse aid dispenser is filled. Select MaxDry or Eco Air dry option.
  • Page 20: Troubleshooting Etching Dishware stained or discolored can result from using too much detergent, especially in soft water. Tea and coffee can stain cups; remove stains with a bleach solution. Adjust detergent based on water hardness. Iron deposits can cause a yellow or brown film; a special filter can correct this. Aluminum utensils can leave marks; load properly. Detergent left in cups may be due to old detergent or high acid foods causing discoloration. Ensure the dish load does not block spray from entering the detergent cup. Mixing stainless steel and silver utensils can cause pitting. Dishwasher leaks may be due to an improperly seated door gasket. Water left in the tub after a cycle indicates a drainage issue. Spilled rinse aid can cause foam; wipe up spills. Ensure the dishwasher is level. Cycle takes a long time if it has been automatically lengthened due to cool water or a large load. The Delay Start option may have been selected. Normal sounds include water fill, spray, draining, and motor sounds. Lower temperature options can shorten the cycle. Soil-sensing cycles adjust automatically for effective washing. It is normal for the dishwasher to pause when switching between spray arms.
  • Page 21: Troubleshooting Dishwasher won’t run - Check to see if circuit breaker is tripped or if a fuse is blown. - Make sure water supply is turned on. - Check to see if cycle is set correctly. - Is dishwasher set for Delay Start Option? Dishwasher won’t fill - Assure the water supply is turned on. - Check that the overfill protector moves up and down freely. Removing spots and film - Hard water can cause lime deposit buildup on the interior of the dishwasher. - Dishes and glasses may also get spots and film for a number of reasons. Dishwasher does not drain properly - If unit is hooked up to a food waste disposer, make sure the disposer is empty. - Assure the drain hose isn’t kinked. Dishwasher has an odor - Soiled dishes left in dishwasher too long can create an odor. - There will be a “new” smell when first installed.
