Different additional functions are available depending on the appliance configuration. ExtraDry: For a better drying result, the final rinse temperature is increased and the drying phase extended. Half Load: Switch on with small loads; it is recommended to add less detergent than for a full machine load. Hygiene+: The temperature is raised and maintained for an extra-long period to ensure a higher hygiene status. SpeedPerfect: The run time is shortened by 15% to 75% depending on the rinse programme.
  • Page 22: Features You can find an overview of the possible features of your appliance and how to use them here. These features depend on the model of your appliance. Arrange cups, glasses and small items of tableware in the top basket. You can adjust the height of the top basket to make room for larger items of tableware. Check that the basket is level on both sides. To wash large items of tableware in the baskets, adjust the shelf position of the top basket. The basket clicks into position. To prevent the basket from suddenly dropping down, hold the side of the basket by the top edge.
  • Page 23: Features Use the cutlery shelf and space underneath for small cups and glasses or for large items of cutlery, e.g. cooking spoons or serving cutlery. Large plates up to a diameter of 31 cm can be arranged in the bottom basket as shown. If you do not need the cutlery shelf, you can fold it up. Arrange pans and plates in the bottom basket. Use the folding prongs to position tableware securely, e.g. plates.
  • Page 24: Features You can fold the prongs down to position pans, bowls, and glasses better. Use the stemware basket to ensure perfect dishwashing results for your stemware. If you do not need the prongs, fold them down. You can place up to 4 stemware baskets in the bottom basket at the same time. To use the prongs again, fold them back up. The prongs audibly click into position. Arrange cutlery in the cutlery basket, always without sorting it and with the sharp points downwards.
  • Page 25: Features You can load stemware with the following dimensions in the stemware basket. Max. size: 245 mm height, 105 mm opening diameter, stem diameter approx. 8-9 mm. Position the stem in the lower fixing arm. The fixing arm clicks into position. The stemware is securely positioned in the stemware basket. Arrange cutlery in the cutlery drawer with points and sharp edges downwards. You can reorganise the cutlery drawer to make more space for longer/wider items. To stop the stemware falling out, make sure the stemware basket cannot tip over. You can fold down the side shelves and folding spines to make more space for longer/wider items of cutlery. Observe the information on how to unload tableware.
  • Page 26: Features To fold down a side shelf, push the lever forwards and fold down the side shelf. Use the baking sheet spray head to clean large items of tableware, e.g. trays, grilles, and plates. To fold down the folding spines, push the lever forwards and fold down the folding spines. Arrange max. 2 baking sheets and 2 grilles as shown to ensure that the spray jet can reach all parts. Check that the appliance is always operated with the top basket or the baking sheet spray head. Use the baking sheet spray head instead of the top basket to clean large trays, grilles, and plates. Remove the top basket to insert the baking sheet spray head in the holder. If you want to return the cutlery drawer to the original position, fold the side shelf back up until it clicks into position. The baking sheet spray head clicks into position.
  • Page 27: Features Push in the top basket. If you no longer require the baking sheet spray head, remove it from the appliance. Turn the baking sheet spray head anticlockwise and remove from the holder. Limescale and soiling from the dishwashing water can block the nozzles. Always operate the appliance with the Extra Clean Zone fitted. Use the Extra Clean Zone in the top basket to clean soiled tableware thoroughly, e.g. muesli bowls. Consumption will increase if you operate your appliance with the Extra Clean Zone switched on. Set the slider to ON or OFF. Check that the mounts are in the correct position. The Extra Clean Zone audibly clicks into position.
  • Page 28: Before using for the first time, you need to make settings. Start the programme with the highest cleaning temperature without tableware. To remove any marks from water or other residues, operate the appliance without tableware before first use. Connect your appliance to a mobile device for convenient settings changes via the Home Connect app. To ensure good dishwashing results, treat the water with special salt and the water softening system. Water with a hardness above 9 °E must be softened to avoid damage to the appliance. Add special salt and rinse aid before switching on the appliance. You can change the settings for initial start-up and other basic settings at any time. An overview of the water hardness values can be found in the manual. You can find out how hard your water is from your local water company or by using a water hardness tester.
  • Page 29: Water softening system Water hardness Setting value Soft, Medium, Hard hardness ranges Set the water hardness determined on your appliance. You can use special salt to soften water. If the special salt refill indicator lights up, add special salt to the dispenser just before the programme starts. The consumption of special salt depends on the water hardness. Only fill the dispenser of the water softening system with special dishwasher salt. To make sure that any special salt that escapes is washed out of the tub, add the special salt immediately before the programme starts.
  • Page 30: Rinse aid system Only use special salt for dishwashers. The water hardness is 0 - 8 °E. Do not use salt tablets or table salt. Fill the dispenser right up with special salt. For optimum drying results, use rinse aid. Only use rinse aid for domestic dishwashers. If the display shows Please add rinse aid, add rinse aid. You can switch off the special salt refill indicator if it is irritating. Only switch off the water softening system under specific conditions.
  • Page 31: Detergent Add rinse aid up to the max mark. Switching the rinse aid system off If you find the rinse aid refill indicator irritating, you can switch the rinse aid system off. The function of rinse aid is limited with combined detergents. You will generally get better results using rinse aid. If rinse aid spills out, remove it from the tub. Spilled rinse aid can cause excessive frothing during the wash cycle. Only use detergents that are suitable for dishwashers. Both separate and combined detergents are suitable. For optimum washing and drying results, use separate detergent, adding special salt and rinse aid separately. Modern, powerful detergents mainly use a low-alkaline formulation with enzymes. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for each detergent.
  • Page 32: Detergent Suitable detergents are available online or from Customer Service. For better washing and drying results and to avoid damage, use special salt and rinse aid. Tabs are suitable for all cleaning functions and do not need to be measured out. With shorter programmes, tabs sometimes do not dissolve entirely and leave residues of detergent. Combined detergents contain not only detergent but also rinse aid and salt replacement substances. Combined detergents generally only function up to a water hardness of 26 °E. Powder detergent is recommended for shorter programmes and the dosage can be adjusted to the level of soiling. Liquid detergent works faster and is recommended for shorter programmes without PreRinse. Do not use detergent that could cause damage to the appliance or present a risk to health. Hand washing-up liquid can cause increased frothing and damage the appliance.
  • Page 33: Tableware Only put glasses and china in the dishwasher if it is marked as dishwasher-safe by the manufacturer. Avoid damage to glass and tableware. The following tableware is not dishwasher-safe: items of cutlery and tableware made from wood, decorated glassware, antique and hand-crafted tableware, plastic parts not resistant to heat, tableware made from copper or tin, and tableware soiled with ash, wax, lubricating grease, or paint. If you use powder detergent and select a program with pre-rinse, you can also add a little detergent to the interior door of the appliance. Only clean tableware that is suitable for dishwashers. Decorated glassware and parts made of aluminium or silver may fade or discolour with dishwashing. Delicate types of glass may turn cloudy after a few washing cycles. The chemical composition of detergent causes damage. Use a detergent marked by the manufacturer as gentle on tableware.
  • Page 34: Tableware Allowing steam to escape and water to leak out around the door could damage your kitchen units. Highly caustic alkaline or highly acidic cleaning agents, particularly commercial or industrial cleaners, are not safe to use in the dishwasher with aluminium. The water temperature of the programme is too high. Select a programme with lower temperatures. After the programme has ended, take glassware and cutlery out of the appliance without delay. Using the appliance allows you to save energy and water compared to washing-up by hand. To save energy and water, load the machine with the number of place settings specified. For better washing and drying results, position items with curves or recesses at an angle so water can run off. Arrange tableware correctly to optimise the dishwashing result and prevent damage to both the appliance and tableware. Load the baskets so that no projecting items of tableware interfere with the closing of the door. Remove large remnants of food from tableware.
  • Page 35: Basic operation To save resources, do not pre-rinse tableware under running water. WARNING: Hot tableware can cause burns to the skin. When the programme has ended, do not empty the appliance until the tableware has cooled down for a while. Put heavily soiled tableware in the bottom basket, e.g., pans. Arrange tableware so it is stable and cannot tip over to prevent damage. Arrange cutlery with the points and sharp edges facing down to prevent injury. Position containers with the openings facing down so no water can collect in them. Unload tableware starting at the bottom and working up to prevent water dripping. Check the washing tank and accessories for soiling and clean if necessary. Do not block the spray arms; ensure they can turn freely.
  • Page 36: Basic operation The end of the programme is shown on the display by Finish in or Finish at. The Eco 50° programme is set by default. If you do not perform any actions on the appliance for 10 minutes, it will automatically switch off. To adjust the washing programme to the soiling level of the tableware, select a suitable programme. The programme has ended when the display shows Finished. You can set additional functions to complete the washing programme selected. The additional functions which can be used depend on the programme selected. The appliance switches off automatically 1 minute after the end of the programme to save energy. When you open the appliance door once it has heated up, leave the door slightly ajar for a few minutes before closing it. You can delay the start of the programme by up to 24 hours.

Please note that the Home Connect functions can only be utilised with the Home Connect app. Only use suitable cleaning products to clean your appliance. To keep your appliance working efficiently for a long time, it is important to clean and maintain it carefully. Follow the tips on appliance care to make sure your appliance functions properly at all times. Deposits, e.g. from remnants of food and limescale, can cause your appliance to malfunction. Machine Care combined with machine care products and machine cleaners is the right programme for the care of your appliance.
  • Page 43: Cleaning and servicing Removal of grease and limescale Liquid machine care product or machine descaler in powder form should be placed in the appliance interior. To ensure optimum cleaning performance, the programme doses the detergents independently during the relevant cleaning phase. Run Machine Care without tableware if the indicator for Machine Care lights up on the control panel. It is recommended to perform Machine Care every 2 months. Remove any coarse soiling in the interior with a damp cloth. Only use machine care products specially designed for dishwashers. Make sure that there are no aluminium parts in the interior of the appliance. For optimum cleaning performance, ensure the correct placement of cleaners. Follow the safety instructions given on the packaging of the machine care products and machine cleaners.
  • Page 44: Cleaning and servicing The filter system removes coarse soiling from the dishwashing cycle. Soiling in the dishwashing water may block the filters. After each wash check the filters for residue. Turn the coarse filter anticlockwise and remove the filter system. Clean the filter elements under running water. Check that no foreign objects fall into the sump. Carefully clean the rim of dirt between the coarse and the fine filter. Re-assemble the filter system. If the problem recurs, switch off the appliance and disconnect the mains plug or switch off the fuse. Wait at least 2 minutes before reconnecting the mains plug or switching on the fuse. If the issue persists, contact customer service. Remnants of food on tableware may be due to tableware being placed too close together or the basket being overfilled. Arrange tableware with sufficient space to ensure spray jets reach all surfaces. Avoid points of contact that may block spray arm rotation. Ensure spray arm nozzles are not blocked and clean them if necessary. Soiled filters may also cause issues; clean the filters as needed.
  • Page 50: Troubleshooting Remnants of food on tableware may be caused by incorrectly inserted or not engaged filters. Ensure filters are properly inserted and engaged. A weak washing programme may not effectively clean tableware. Select a more intensive washing programme or adjust the sensitivity of the sensors. Precleaning tableware too intensely can lead to ineffective washing. Only remove large food remnants without prerinse. Tall narrow receptacles may not rinse adequately if positioned incorrectly. Set the upper basket on the left and right to the same height for optimal cleaning. Removable streaks on glasses and cutlery can result from high rinse aid settings. Adjust the rinse aid system to a lower setting or add rinse aid if none has been added. Detergent residue may occur if the dispenser lid is blocked by tableware items. Arrange tableware to avoid obstructing the detergent dispenser lid.
  • Page 51: Troubleshooting Removable streaks are present on glasses, glassware with a metallic appearance and cutlery. Tableware has been precleaned too intensely. Only remove large remnants of food and do not prerinse tableware. Adjust the sensitivity of the sensors. Rust spots on cutlery may occur if cutlery is not sufficiently rust-resistant. Use rust-resistant tableware. Salt content in washing water is too high. Check that the spray arms are not blocked and can rotate freely. Detergent dispenser was damp when detergent was added. Add special salt if the special salt refill indicator lights up.
