- Page 2: INTRODUCTION Welcome to our family. Very important information - Read before operating your dishwasher! This dishwasher does not sound like most dishwashers - it’s quieter. Your Precision Direct Wash System dishwasher uses energy efficient motors for the wash and drain portions of the cycle you select. Each cycle has a series of water fills and drains for washing and rinsing dishes. This manual is your resource for the use and care of your product. If something doesn’t seem right, the troubleshooting section will help you with common issues. Please be advised: If you compare this dishwasher to previous models, you may be surprised at what you don’t hear. Why energy efficient units run long cycles: Several factors are important to washing dishware. The filters will need to be cleaned to maximize wash performance during the life of your dishwasher.
- Page 3: IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION When using your dishwasher, follow basic precautions. Disconnect electrical power to dishwasher before servicing. Use your dishwasher only as instructed in this Use and Care Manual. Repairs should be done by a qualified technician. This Manual does not cover every possible condition and situation. Do not tamper with controls. Use care unloading the dishwasher when the Sanitize option has been selected. This dishwasher is designed to operate on regular house current. Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be produced in a hot water system that has not been used for 2 weeks or more. Keep young children and infants away from the dishwasher when it is operating.
- Page 4: Important safety information is crucial for the safe use of the dishwasher. Children should never use packaging materials to play, as they can pose a suffocation risk. To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or injury, follow basic safety precautions. Do not store or use flammable liquids near the appliance. Read all instructions before using the dishwasher. The safety alert symbol indicates potential personal injury hazards. Remove all staples from the carton to prevent cuts and damage to finishes. DANGER indicates a situation that could result in death or serious injury if not avoided. WARNING indicates a potentially hazardous situation that could lead to death or serious injury. CAUTION indicates a situation that may result in minor or moderate injury if not avoided.
- Page 5: Your dishwasher cleans by spraying a mixture of hot water and detergent through the spray arms against soiled surfaces. The dishwasher drains for a few seconds to remove soils dropped while loading, then fills with water covering the filter area. Water is pumped through the spray arms, and soil particles go through and across the filter and down the drain as the water is pumped out. This series of steps are repeated as needed, and the number of water fills varies with the cycle being used. Features may vary according to model. Accessories are available for your appliance and may be purchased at Frigidaire.com or from an authorized seller.
- Page 6: Controls and settings Wash cycle selections: Cycle times are approximate and will vary with options selected. Hot water is necessary to activate dishwasher detergent and melt fatty food soils. An automatic sensor will check the incoming water temperature and, if it is not hot enough, the cycle will be lengthened for automatic water heating. Your dishwasher uses DishSense technology to understand how much food is on the dishes and then adjusts the cycle accordingly. Before starting the dishwasher, be sure that the water is connected and turned on. Failure to do so may cause damage to the pump seal and result in water leakage. The programmed cycles default to the Normal cycle option. To choose Sanitize or High, press the Temp pad. The dishwasher is programmed to remember your last cycle so you do not have to reset each time. To start the dishwasher using the same cycle and options selected on the previous wash, just press the START/CANCEL pad. To sanitize your dishes and glassware, select the Sanitize option. The water temperature in the final rinse will be raised to 155°F (68°C) and will maintain that temperature for 9 minutes. Recommended cycle for typical use: The Normal cycle with its factory default options provides the best all-around performance. This cycle selection is recommended for everyday use. The cycle time will be extended until the proper water temperature is reached. For best results, the incoming water temperature should be at least 120°F (49°C). The sanitize criteria may not be satisfied if there is an interruption of the cycle, power failure, or if the incoming water temperature is below 120°F (49°C).
- Page 7: Controls and settings include options for delay time and high temperature. The Delay Start option allows for a 4-hour delay in starting the dishwasher. To activate the delay start option, press and hold the Dry pad for 3 seconds. The High Temp option heats water to approximately 155°F (68°C) for better cleaning. When the High Temp option is selected, the indicator remains on until the cycle ends. To cancel the Delay Start option, press and hold the START/CANCEL pad for 3 seconds. The Max Dry option extends drying time by approximately 20 minutes. The Heat Dry option enhances drying performance when used with rinse aid. The Sanitized light indicates if the dishes were properly sanitized at the end of the cycle. The Clean light comes on at the end of the cycle and remains until the door is opened.
- Page 8: Operating instructions If you open the door while a cycle is running or delay is counting down, the dishwasher will stop running. Load the dishwasher. The LEDs of selected cycle and options are illuminated, and the status window displays the remaining cycle time. To resume, press the START pad and close the dishwasher door immediately. Select desired cycle and option. A tone will sound indicating that the dishwasher will begin running from the point of interruption after the door is closed. If the dishwasher door is kept open for too long, or the door is closed without pressing START pad, the running cycle or delay countdown will be canceled. To start, press the START/CANCEL pad. To prevent children from accidentally changing the dishwasher cycle, lock the dishwasher controls. If the dishwasher door is opened while the unit is running, the START/CANCEL pad must be pressed and the door shut immediately to return the unit to the selected cycle and option.
- Page 9: Operating instructions provide essential guidance for using the dishwasher effectively. The cycle and option chart outlines various cycles and their intended uses. Heavy wash is recommended for pots, pans, casseroles, and heavily soiled dinnerware. Normal wash is suitable for lightly to heavily soiled loads. 1 hr wash is designed for lightly soiled loads only. Energy saver cycle reduces dishwasher energy consumption. Proper dish preparation includes scraping away large food pieces before loading. The upper rack is designed for flexibility in loading cups, glasses, and small plates. Load glasses and plastic items in the top rack to avoid damage. Pre-rinsing is recommended for foods that may cause discoloration if left sitting.
- Page 10: Operating instructions 10 place settings standard loading pattern 12 place settings standard loading pattern Some models have a fold-down cup shelf or a cup shelf/stemware holder. They can be used to load two levels of cups, juice glasses, and other short items. Stagger items on upper level so that water can reach all inside surfaces. Fold up to load tall glasses. The upper rack can be used to wash a wide assortment of items when you don’t have a full load. Stemware holder/cup shelf not available on all models. Place the clips of the cup shelf over the horizontal rack wires and push down to attach the cup shelf onto the second wire of the upper rack.
- Page 11: Operating instructions Loading the bottom rack The lower rack is best for plates, saucers, bowls, and cookware. Large items should be placed along the edge so they do not block the spray arm rotation. For best results, place bowls, casseroles, and sauce pans with soiled surface facing down or toward the center. Load sharp items (knives, skewers, etc.) pointing down. Load the silverware basket while it is in the bottom rack or take the basket out for loading on a counter or table. Make sure tall items do not block spray arm rotation. Use suggested loading patterns to increase washability of the silverware. Do not mix silver and stainless to avoid damaging the silver finish. When covers are up, mix items in each section of the basket with some pointing up and some down to avoid nesting.
- Page 12: Operating instructions Add detergent just before starting. Store detergent in a cool, dry location. Moist or caked detergent may not dissolve properly. Unlatch door and wait a few seconds until wash action stops before opening. Add the item and wait a few seconds to allow cold air to slowly expand inside dishwasher. The use of industrial grade detergent can damage the heating coil and other parts of the dishwasher. The amount of detergent to use depends on the water hardness. Using too little detergent can result in poor cleaning and hard water filming or spotting. Using too much detergent in soft water can cause etching to some glassware. The detergent dispenser has two detergent cups. Use only fresh automatic dishwashing detergent.
- Page 13: Operating instructions The HEAT DRY option in combination with rinse aid will enhance drying performance. Rinse aid greatly improves drying, reduces water spots, and lubricates the wash arm bearing for proper rotation. Water sheets off dishes rather than forming droplets that cling and leave spots. The energy required to use the HEAT DRY option costs pennies per cycle. You may choose not to select the HEAT DRY option; however, items in your dish load may not be completely dry at the end of the cycle. The hot water line to the dishwasher must provide water pressure between 20 and 120 psi. Low water pressure may occur when laundry or showers are in operation. Hot water is needed for the best dishwashing and drying results. Water entering the dishwasher should be at least 120°F (49°C) for satisfactory results. Before starting a cycle, run hot water to clear cool water from the pipe.
- Page 14: To empty the glass trap, pull the glass trap handle up and out. Once empty, slide the glass trap back into the same location and push down to lock it back into position. Allow the heating element to cool before cleaning the interior to avoid burns. Clean the outer door with warm soapy water and a dishcloth or sponge, then rinse with clean water and a dry cloth. The inside of the dishwasher and filter are self-cleaning with normal use. Clean around the tub gasket area with a damp cloth if needed. The overfill protector keeps the dishwasher from overfilling and is located in the left front corner of the tub. Clean the overfill protector occasionally with a household cleaner containing vinegar or bleach to dissolve any buildup. Use Frigidaire ReadyClean Dishwasher Cleaner Tablets to clean and freshen the interior of the dishwasher. Hard water may cause lime deposit buildup on the interior of the dishwasher.
- Page 15: Care and cleaning Check the drain air gap to ensure it is clean for proper drainage. A drain air gap is usually mounted on the countertop and can be inspected by removing the cover. This component is not part of the dishwasher and is not covered by warranty. A dishwasher left in an unheated place should be protected from freezing. To disconnect service, turn off electrical power to the dishwasher at the supply source. Shut off the water supply and place a pan under the inlet valve. Disconnect the water line from the inlet valve and drain into the pan. Reconnect the water, drain, and electrical power supply to restore service. Fill both detergent cups and run the dishwasher through a heavy wash cycle. Check connections to ensure there are no leaks.
- Page 16: Troubleshooting Check for proper loading and avoid nesting items. Before calling for service, review this list to save time and expense. Plastic items may need to be towel dried. Cups with a concave bottom should be loaded at the far left of the upper rack. Containers and dishware with concave surfaces should be placed facing down to allow water drainage. Choose another cycle for longer washing time. Check that the glass trap is maintained and installed properly. Home water pressure should be between 20 to 120 pounds per square inch (psi). Check incoming water temperature; it should be about 120°F (49°C). Use fresh detergent and ensure items are not blocking the spray arms.
- Page 17: Troubleshooting Dishware chipped Load with care and do not overload. Assure the water supply is turned on. Check that the overfill protector moves up and down freely. Place delicate items in the top rack. Detergent left in cups Detergent may be old. Discard and use fresh detergent. Check to see if the cycle has been completed. Make sure items do not prevent the detergent dispenser from opening. Dishware stained or discolored Water vapor escapes from the vent during the drying part of the cycle. This is normal. Iron deposits in water can cause a yellow or brown film. Normal sounds you will hear Normal sounds include water fill, water circulation, and motor sounds. There is a noticeable change in sound when the wash action switches between the lower and middle spray arm. Water in bottom of tub Water left in the tub bottom after the cycle is complete is not normal. Dishwasher leaks Check that the door gasket is pressed into its mounting channel.
- Page 18: Troubleshooting There will be a “new” smell when first installed. This is normal. Check to see if the unit is draining properly. Check to see that the dishwasher is level. Avoid oversudsing by using the correct amount of detergent designed for automatic dishwashers. Washing large amounts of dishware with tomato-based soil can cause a pink/orange appearance. Check to see if the circuit breaker is tripped or if a fuse is blown. Make sure the water supply is turned on. Make sure the START/CANCEL pad is pressed after the cycle has been selected. Hard water can cause lime deposit buildup on the interior of the dishwasher. Soiled dishes left in the dishwasher too long can create an odor.
