WASH CYCLES
The Cove dishwasher has four wash cycles, Auto, Normal,
Heavy, and Quick, available as keys on the dishwasher's
user interface module (UIM). Additional cycles for specific
needs (for example, energy-saving cycles or gentle cycles
for china and crystal) are available by touching the Cycles+
key.
WATER SOFTENER
For water softener models only, a salt compartment is
located at the bottom of the interior.
When softener salt is low, “Add Salt. ENTER once added,
CANCEL to ignore.” appears on the display.
Once the wash cycle is selected, additional options for the
wash cycle (for example, delaying the start time or adding
an anti-bacterial high-temperature rinse) are available by
touching the Options key. To begin the wash cycle, touch
the Start key and close the door.

The unit heats and circulates water throughout the
tub interior with a preset water temperature and
circulation speed.

COVE DW2450 Dishwasher Overview
Summary of Contents
- Page 1: Cove dishwasher theory of operation outlines the functionality of the appliance. The status light indicates the cycle status, illuminating in different colors for various conditions. A delayed start option requires the Start button to be pressed each time the door is opened before the start time. The dishwasher features four wash cycles: Auto, Normal, Heavy, and Quick, accessible via the user interface module. Additional wash cycles for specific needs can be selected by using the Cycles+ key. For water softener models, a salt compartment is located at the bottom of the interior, with a notification for low salt levels. After selecting a wash cycle, additional options can be accessed through the Options key. The unit fills with water to a preset volume and heats it to a specific temperature for circulation. Each wash cycle includes a unique spray arm pattern and a preset number of fills and drains to clean the dishes. The final steps of each cycle involve rinsing and drying the dishes according to preset sequences.
- Page 2: DW2450 and DW2450WS Service Manual Controls and operation Diverter valve helps control water flow depending on the selected wash cycle. UIM lighting and tub lighting operation are synchronized. The diverter valve manages water flow between the lower, middle, and upper wash arms. A proximity sensor sends information on the disc position to the MCM. The diverter valve distributes water from the wash pump to the upper/middle and lower spray arms at different pressures. Quick and Rinse & Hold cycles do not divert water; all other cycles use the diverter valve. Water inlet valve fills the unit with 1.0 gallons of water before automatically turning off. The water level is monitored by the pressure sensor. The temperature and turbidity sensor is a combination sensor. The turbidity sensor uses infrared light to measure how dirty the water in the sump is.
- Page 3: Controls and operation Wash cycles and user control Normal cycle uses the turbidity of the water to decide the duration and intensity. Normal starts with a pre-wash cycle, during which the unit drains and fills to 1.1 gal. The unit chooses the Light or Average setting based on the average turbidity level. If the turbidity is consistently low, the unit chooses the Heavy setting. Auto cycle also uses the turbidity of the water to decide the duration and intensity. The unit washes and accumulates turbidity data for 10 minutes. It selects a cycle based on the average turbidity. Important note: Within the Heavy setting, the unit chooses one of two sets of fills and drains depending on the turbidity. To incorporate a cycle option into the wash cycle, touch Options before touching Start.
- Page 4: Controls and operation To interrupt a cycle, select the desired wash cycle and touch Options. To restart the cycle, touch Start and close the door within 4 seconds. To cancel a cycle, open the door and touch Cancel. Delay Start delays the start of the wash cycle by 1–12 hours in 1-hour increments. High Temp Wash increases the main wash water temperature and extends the cycle time by 10 minutes. Sani Rinse increases the rinse water temperature and extends the rinse time by 15 minutes. Extended Dry extends the dry time by 30 minutes. Extra Dry increases the rinse water temperature and extends the dry time by 30 minutes. Top Racks Only directs wash functions to upper and middle racks only. Sanitizes per NSF/ANSI standard 184 for residential dishwashers.
- Page 5: Controls and operation Set user options Use the reset all function Touch and hold the Options key for 10 seconds to enter the User Setup menu. Touch the Options key multiple times to scroll to the Reset All option. The unit is restored to factory settings, and all error codes are cleared. User options include language, water hardness, tone level, notification, scroll rate, display contrast, display brightness, floor light, rinse aid dosing, showroom mode, and reset all. To connect to the Sub-Zero Group Owner's App, Connect must be turned on.
- Page 6: DW2450 and DW2450WS Service Manual Controls and Operation Modes User mode is the normal, day-to-day operation mode of the dishwasher. User mode allows all control system functions including Smart Grid requests, Bluetooth pairing, and water softener regeneration messaging. Standby Power mode occurs when the unit has either had no door movement and no communication for 15 minutes or completed its wash cycle with the door still latched shut. In Standby Power mode, the UIM is blank, and all control system outputs are disabled. Power-Up mode is the control system's initial power-up/boot sequence when the unit first connects to AC power. Standby Power mode is exited by moving the door, pressing any UIM key, or triggering an error. Digital Wi-Fi connection X13’s ON/OFF state is OFF until after the boot sequence. If the unit does not successfully pass through Power-Up mode, the UIM shows PF - Call Service.
- Page 7: Controls and operation Sabbath mode places the unit in a state of reduced operation specifically for the Sabbath. Child Lock mode allows the user to lock the control system to prevent tampering by children or other unauthorized individuals. In Child Lock mode, the system does not allow tub lighting, audible or visual response from the door, Smart Grid control, water softener regeneration messaging, diverter valve calibration/positioning, Bluetooth pairing PIN messaging, Service mode, or Standby Power mode. The unit can enter Standby Power mode. Sabbath mode can be entered at any time except during an active wash cycle, Showroom mode, Service mode, or Child Lock mode. Sabbath mode and Child Lock mode cannot both be on at the same time. Child Lock mode can be activated from either the UIM or from the Sub-Zero Group Owner's App. Child Lock mode remains active until the user deactivates it. Cycling the power to the dishwasher does not change the status of Child Lock mode. Touch and hold Quick for 10 seconds or more to enter Sabbath mode.
- Page 8: Controls and operation Showroom mode is used to demonstrate the unit operation in an environment where no water supply or drain is available. The entire UIM menu operates, and all wash cycles are simulated and accelerated. Control from the Sub-Zero Group Owner's App is allowed. Standby power mode is available. Service mode and Child Lock mode are not available. Pressure-based drain pump control, diverter valve movement, error checking, and Smart Grid requests are not allowed. To enter Showroom mode, touch and hold Options for 10 seconds or more to enter the User Setup menu. To exit Showroom mode, touch and hold Options for 10 seconds or more to enter the User Setup menu.
