Controls and Operation
DIVERTER VALVE
UIM AND TUB LIGHT BEHAVIOR
UIM lighting and tub lighting operation are synchronized.
The diverter valve helps control water flow depending on
the selected wash cycle.
•
When the UIM lighting turns on, the rate that the UIM
lights increase their brightness matches the rate that
the tub lights increase their brightness so that both
lighting systems match.
The diverter valve manages water flow between the lower,
middle, and upper wash arms. It uses a high-torque motor
to drive a disc valve via a gear box. A proximity sensor
sends information on the disc position to the MCM. The
diverter valve distributes water from the wash pump to the
upper/middle and lower spray arms at different pressures.
In select cycles, it alternates flow between the arms to
deliver a "soak and scrub" action.
•
•
When the door is closed, the tub lights instantly turn
off.
When the door is opened, the tub lights slowly
increase their brightness to 100% output level in 3
seconds.
•
When it diverts water to the upper/middle and lower
arms separately, the unit also adjusts the wash pump
RPMs to help maintain the pressure.
•
If the door is left open at an angle for 10 minutes, the
tub lights dim slowly to a 20% output level. Then, if
the user leaves the door open at any angle for
another 5 minutes, the tub lights turn off. If the door
moves during this 15-minute period, the tub lighting
dimming sequence starts over.
•
Quick and Rinse & Hold cycles do not divert water.
All other cycles use the diverter valve.
WATER INLET VALVE
When Standby Power mode automatically turns on, all
lighting dims as above.
When the water inlet valve (SOL1) is operated manually in
Service mode, it will fill the unit with 1.0 gallons of water
before automatically turning off.
Dishwasher lighting control does not affect or control
lighting on the Sub-Zero Group Owner's App.
The water inlet valve cannot fill the unit to the point that
water overflows out of the unit. The water level is
monitored by the pressure sensor. When the pressure
sensor reaches a predetermined value, the MCM turns on
the drain pump.
TEMPERATURE AND TURBIDITY SENSOR
The temperature and turbidity sensor (AE1) is a
combination sensor.
•
The temperature sensor portion is an integrated NTC
thermistor. The temperature sensor will sense
incoming water temperature as soon as the level of
water in the sump rises to cover it.
•
The turbidity sensor uses infrared light to measure
how dirty the water in the sump is. This helps to
determine the rate of cleaning of the load.
The dishwasher's UIM has no means to show temperature
or turbidity. Monitoring either of these requires the
Connected Diagnostics Program.
